First Day Of Kindergarten @ Shamrock Academy

Yesterday we started our first official day of kindergarten at Shamrock Academy. Daddy called @ 8:00 am and was singing "Time for school, time for school" on the answering machine. We were in bed and the baby was still sleeping. Ninny Boo-Boo's yelled, "Momma, do you hear that!". "Yes, I hear it. Get the phone for me please!", I said. I immediately called Daddy back and said, "You must not have read the memo Daddy. We do afternoon kindergarten!!". Ninny thought that was pretty funny.

I had put out all her school supplies on the desk the night before so I told her to go check out the schoolroom. She ran downstairs and came back a few minutes later and said, "Oh.my.heart. That.is.so.cool.!!" She was so excited.

After breakfast we went downstairs to start. We did a lesson in Singapore Math 1a, a lesson in the Ordinary Parents Guide to Teaching Reading and started a twice a week science program I found here http://thesunnypatch.blogspot.com/ . It is the K4 Science with Animals and its going to be lots of fun. She really did well, only changing into a panther a couple of times. (She has been pretending to be a black panther for about a month now) I explained to her that this was really important and that as soon as we were done we could play. She listened, got done and then played blocks with Bubby.

Later that day, when Daddy got home, I had her get dressed up so I could take her official 1st day of Kindergarten pictures. We took pictures downstairs and outside. I think they turned out pretty good. I can't believe my baby girl is starting school. I am so happy I am homeschooling her and look forward to a fun and exciting year.

Sounds like a great start to your school year! Have fun - they are so much fun at this age!

I'm so glad you've found something useful at my blog - it's nice to see how someone else is using the lessons!
